Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra (UMSU) is one of the Educational Institutions in Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah, founded on February 29, 1957 on the initiative of several leaders and Muhammadiyah Ulama including HM Bustami Ibrahim, D. Diyar Karim, Rustam Thayib, M. Nur Haitami, Kadiruddin Pasaribu, Dr. Dervish Datuk Batu Besar, H. Syaiful U.A, Abdul Mu'thi and Baharuddin Latif.
One of the important factors in the improvement of nation is having the presence of quality generation. UMSU comes to answer the challenge with intension to produce generation in the future competition. In line with the Vision of UMSU “as Muhammadiyah University which excels in build civilization of nation by developing science and technology, human resources based on Islamic and Muhammadiyah value”. Through the professional education management of UMSU, UMSU Produces generation who has competitive skill while upholding the Islam and Muhammadiyah value. UMSU is willing to step on the world stage as a world class University in 2033.
University Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara has faculties of undergraduate programs, and 8 master programs. From those faculties, there are : 1 Diploma Program, 24 Undergraduate study programs, and 2 Study programs of Profession. UMSU has 3 campuses, they are Main Campus (Rectorate and Undergraduate Programs), Medical Campus (faculty of Medicine), and Postgraduate Campus. The list of Faculties and Study Programs at UMSU are faculty of Islam, faculty of economics and business, faculty of law, faculty of social and political science, faculty of agriculture, faculty of engineering, faculty of teacher training and education, and faculty of Medicine.

To realize its vision, Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra has the following mission:

3. Conducting community service through empowering and developing people's lives based on Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan.
Receiving School: Peguruan Al-amjad Islamic School
Peguruan Al-amjad Islamic School is given the many arguments in the Koran and Al-Hadist about the obligation to study for every Muslim, both the science of quoliyah (written in the Koran) and Kauniyah (translated in nature). So, establishing an educational institution is an obligation for Muslims. Many Islamic schools have been established, but the conditions are very concerning both physically and quality. This is a situation that illustrates how the condition of the people and the nation is going forward, if there is no serious effort in the world of education. These conditions encouraged the Founder of the Haji Hasballah Yunus Foundation, the Al-Amjad Medan Islamic School, to establish an Educational Institution, which was oriented towards being a quality school and became a pioneer for other Islamic schools. To achieve the ideals of the Founder of the Haji Hasballah Yunus Foundation, the Al-Amjad Medan Islamic Schools, in organizing an Educational Institution, which is oriented towards being a quality school and becoming a pioneer for other Islamic schools. So, it is very important to make various plans and concrete actions so that these ideals and goals can be realized through Al-Amjad Islamic School.
Peguruan Islam Al-Amjad is an Islamic School in Medan, Indonesia that is located in JI. Merpati No. 81, Sei Sikambing B, Medan Sunggal, Kota Medan, Sumatera Utara 20122, Indonesia. It is an Integrated Islamic School located in Medan-Indonesia to enriching knowledge based on Islamic values. At present, Al-Amjad Islamic School has 500 students in Junior High School, and there are 25 teachers in Junior High School. In a classroom, there are 20-28 students and the classes of male and female students are separated. There are 6 classes for the grade 7, 6 classes for grade 8, and 7 classes for the grade 9.

Typical Program of Al-Amjad Islamic School

WAFA
Wafa is a Qur'anic learning method taught at Al-Amjad Islamic College, first in North Sumatra, with the characteristic of using the right brain as a method of understanding, practicing and memorizing the Koran. Wafa is also known by the recitation of the hijaz tone that has a uniform tone that is uniform, even all students have the same tone in reading the Koran.

Literacy
Al-Amjad Islamic College was designed as a school with good literacy facilities and components. The availability of reading corners in each class, thousands of literacy materials in the Library, a routine reading schedule in the morning for 15 minutes, and the activity of writing a reflection journal in the afternoon is a unity of literacy activities that are very beneficial for students. There is an obligation for each student to finish reading non-subject books for the development and habituation of literacy in him.

Integration of the Qur'an and Hadith Al-Qur'an
As a way of life for every Muslim is used as a reference in learning. Every material taught, will be informed about integration in the Qur'an or Hadith, in order to further instill in students that Islam as rahmatan lil amin alamin for all humanity.
Worship Implementation and Monitoring Worship is taught, carried out, and supervised thoroughly at Al-Amjad, starting from the Prayer of Dhuha in the morning, Dzuhur and Asr in congregation, up to the obligation to report obligatory worship activities and sunnah which are carried out at home even during holidays. All of this ensures synergy between parents, students, and Al-Amjad.

Academic Support Sytem:
Al-amjad Islamic School goes to great lengths to make sure that each student has every opportunity to succeed. They provide different learning centers in order to develop all areas of a child's development. They also provide assistance to students with concern so as to give all students the chance to be the best that they can be.
Teaching System:
Al-amjad Islamic school provides concrete objects to make things easier and make the lesson easier, this will make the students to better understand the lesson. They have different ways in handling their students attitude. They value individuality and they respect each student's concern and make things better and easier.
Measurement and Evaluation System :
Group Activity and Individual quiz are my bases in my students performance, I always gave them a group activity or worksheet, which my students can share ideas with their classmates. My individual test that I gave to them is usually 10 items test, specifically a multiple choice type of test. This semester test is usually given by my cooperating test that covered all of the topics in a semester.
